Winemaking and foudre combine to impart aromas of the seashore with wet stones, flint and Asian spices on the nose combined with a tropical lift. The palate has a zesty entry, with a hint of richness and minerals followed by a lingering flavour of lychee, ginger, spice and saltwater. This is a unique, modern Chardonnay that also pays homage to the old world.
"The wine begins with aromas of citrus, apple and spice. On the palate, it delivers flavours of mandarin, lychee and spicy oak."
- John Schreiner
"It would appear a little less is more in 2017 as Attack begins to settle into itself, becoming more elegant with each passing vintage."
- Anthony Gismondi
"Nervy, fresh and elegant on opening, this somehow manages to lift the fruit up past the woody nuances that the winery sometimes likes too much. It's not the most substantial of the offerings this report, but the balance leans to freshness on the finish, which is better here than with most. The finish lingers nicely. The question now will be whether some time in the cellar can help this come together and evolve."
