For optimal aging potential, proper storage is key for our wines. Since all closures are cork-based, storing them horizontally in a wine rack and maintaining a stable temperature is the best way to prevent cork dryness. Either a climate-controlled wine fridge or cool location such as a basement or the back of a closet is ideal for storing fine wine.

Typically, we recommend aging our Merlots for around ten years and our Chardonnays for approximately eight years. However, for more precise guidance tailored to specific wines and vintages, please consult with your winery host during your visit. If you require further assistance or updated aging recommendations, feel free to reach out to us at info@checkmatewinery.com with the wine name and vintage, and our team will be delighted to assist you.
