The wine begins with aromas of citrus, apple and spice. On the palate, it delivers flavours of mandarin, lychee and spicy oak.

The benefits of moving to organic farming are also beginning to come home to roost in 2017. Phenolic ripening is happening sooner, allowing earlier picking, and you guessed, lower alcohol. This edition comes in at 13.9, giving the wine a delicacy that further heightens its outer edges.

Two vineyards are in the blend, fermented together in a single foudre. It has a Bourbon barrel note running across the palate, a seamless mix of citrus, apple and green melon. The new foudre added some baking spice accents as well, and the wine has a pleasing sharpness, along with overall balance.

92 Points, Paul Gregutt - Wine Enthusiast Magazine
