Sunset Vineyard

Situated south of Jagged Rock Vineyard and perfectly aligned with a gap in the range across the valley, this vineyard basks in the sun late into the evening. Thirty years ago, we planted Dijon clones 76 & 95 on soils formed by glacial meltwaters.

The vines grow in gravelly sand, and the site slopes to the southwest. This warm exposure and highly porous soils produce classic Chardonnay that exudes character.

"It begins with aromas of citrus and peach, leading to flavours of spice and fruit mingled with oak. The minerals on the spine give the wine a little grip."

"The half-dozen Chardonnays from this new producer are subtly differentiated, and reward your extra attention. This is comprised of Dijon clones, fermented with wild yeasts and aged 17 months in 45% new French oak. It's gracefully layered with blended flavors of apple, lemon and melon. It finishes with pleasing tastes of butter cookie and fresh mint."
