Six Bottle Allocation
The 2022 Little Pawn Chardonnay is the final vintage crafted before the 2024 cold event that reshaped the Okanagan Valley. This wine stands as a marker in time, not an ending, but the beginning of a new chapter as Jagged Rock is renewed and the next generation of vines takes root with even greater promise.
6x 750 ml / $660.00
“Precision agriculture has led to no-maintenance vines with self-limiting yields, intensifying their vibrant floral and melon. On the palate, citrus and peach are accompanied by mineral salinity. Fresh and elegant, it’s Next World chardonnay.”

“The consistency and the elegance of Little Pawn through recent vintages is astonishing. It begins with floral aromas with hints of marmalade. The wine manages to be bright and rich at the same time, with flavours of peach, apricot and orange. The finish is persistent.”
John Schreiner
Jagged Rock Vineyard
Planted in 1999 on a west-facing plateau in the Okanagan Highland foothills of the Black Sage Bench near Oliver, these Chardonnay blocks feature a mix of clone 76 and the heritage ‘Dekleva’ clone. The sandy, gravelly soils, formed by glacial activity, are porous and limit vine vigour, resulting in low yields and intensely flavoured grape clusters.
Game Changer
At CheckMate, every move is made with intention. From founder Anthony von Mandl’s conviction that the Okanagan could rival the world’s most revered wine regions, to our meticulous, block-by-block approach, each decision reflects foresight, patience, and precision.
